Avoiding SunStroke This Summer

Avoiding SunStroke This Summer

Warm weather is just around the corner and that means the start of another roofing season. If you are a roofing contractor, or do any type of work outdoors, please follow these tips to beat the heat this summer!

  1. Water

The most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your crew from the damaging effects of the sun is to stay hydrated! By the time you are feeling thirsty, dehydration has already begun. This summer try keeping a cooler full of cold water on site and in the shade. Take frequent water breaks and make sure your team is actually drinking the water. Even if you don’t feel thirsty, it is important to keep drinking water often.

  • Shade

Especially in the roofing industry, shade is a rare gift. Working in direct sunlight can lead to painful sunburns and prolonged exposure will increase your risk of skin cancer. Regularly apply sunscreen and make time for you and your crew to get off the roof and out of the sun.

  • Stay Safe

If it is too hot to work, don’t risk the health of you or your employees. There is always another day to make up lost time, but there is never a way to make up for a lost crew member.

AllPro Roofing is as excited as you are to get the season and the summer started, but we never choose profits over people. This summer please remember the tips above and have a successful, safe season in 2020.
